Cosby

Cosby, Tennessee is a peaceful, quite alternative to the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg.  Cosby is the northeastern section of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, which spreads out over a narrow valley.  Cosby runs from Allen Grove near Newport in the north to the border of the National Park in the South.  English Mountain rises over 2000' above Cosby to the northwest and Green Mountain rises over 1500' to the east.  Highway 321 is the main road in Cosby connecting to Newport (10 miles to the north) and Gatlinburg (20 miles to the west).

Cosby is an example of how the Great Smoky Mountain National Park used to be before the park became a tourist attraction. Cosby has some of the best views of nature and wildlife outside of the National Park.  Cosby Creek cuts through the Cosby valley emptying into the Pigeon River.  Indian Camp Creek flows directly out of the National Park into Cosby.  Both creeks are know for great trout fishing and the higher elevations offer spectacular views.

Cosby has its own access to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  This access way one can hike, camp, fish, and many other activities.  The Cosby side of the National Park is known to have turkey, deer, and some bear sightings.

Cosby is very unique, peaceful, and quiet.  The community has a motel, a fabulous Mexican restaurant, and an apple orchard with over 100 varieties of fresh apples and other goodies. Cosby also has several campgrounds and RV resorts.
